We're Still Here...
So a few things:
1. Our last show with Todd was amazing!
A ton of people came out to help us say farewell to Todd. We planned to play 90 minutes. We ended up playing for at least twice that. 2:00 came and went, and people we're still asking for more when we ran out of music! We couldn't have asked for a better way to say goodbye and thanks to Todd.
2. LC9 is not dead, just taking a different shape, sort of.
We've put too much time and energy to just give up on this. We're writing new music, and we'll probably go with a new name. This site and our music will still live on. Maybe... maybe you'll even see a rare live performance from all of us(including Todd). The remaining members are looking for a new bassist, but in the meantime, look out some special ACOUSTIC DATES. We're working on selected songs and playing them stripped down -- Dave, Noah, and myself (Brian), playing two guitars and violin. We think you'll dig our choices of LC9 originals and some covers by our big influences, Alice in Chains, Pink Floyd, and others. If nothing else, it'll keep us from killing each other until we've got a new member to subject to initiation rights.
3. We need a new bassist. If you play bass, like the music you hear on our site, and feel that the type of music you'd like to play, send us an email at band@liquidcloud9.com. Our requirements are pretty basic:
1. Be cool. We're way laidback. No room for big egos.
2. Be a decent bassist. You don't need to be a virtuoso, but you should know what a bass looks like.
3. Be a team player. If you can write - awesome. If not, can you express your opinions? Awesome. But know that we like where we're going musically. No dictators. No one looking for their backing band. If you want to come in and change the world, we'll pass.
4. Flexibility. We've all got busy lives, so when in full swing, we get together 2-3 times or so a week.
Mostly, we're looking for someone who is fun to hang around with, write music, and play a couple shows a month.
4. We're working on building our archive -- posting all our CDs, live shows, videos, and photos. This will be pretty damn cool once it's done.
That's about it for now. Thank you for all the years of love and support. You'll be hearing more from us soon!
Last Call for LC9 - or Todd's Retirement Party
Saturday, January 13th at the Nail, 10PM
With Special Guest: ShovelHook
$5 cover
Come out for a special Liquid Cloud 9 show. A celebration of 10 years, and the end of an era. For those that haven't heard,
Todd has decided to leave -- damn responsibilities. For years, Todd has been the lifeblood of the band, infusing us with his
damn good attitude, booking shows while the rest of us pretended we didn't know how, and generally being a good guy, despite
constantly tapping you on the left shoulder while standing off to your right. It hasn't work since 3rd grade, but that's never stopped him.
We're going to miss him -- he's been a friend and a brother. So to honor his place in the band, we're having a bigass show at the Nail. It will feature 2 sets
of LC9 music, written over the last decade. Some of these tunes haven't been played since the Clinton administration. Make sure you catch them live
on the 13th -- you'll never get the chance again!
See the span of LC9 music -- old and new. We'll even throw in a handful of covers we've played over the years, with a special guest on our rendition of "Red House".
It's not to be missed!
Whatever you're doing, clear your calendar, and help us send off Todd in style!
As for the rest of us, once things settle down, well start a search for another bassist and a new name. Keep your eyes posted here for new audio (we're recording our last show),
and announcements concerning our future, whatever it may be.
Thanks for all the years of love and support,
Liquid Cloud 9
